JBoss is a powerful Java-based open-source application server that is very popular among Java 2, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application developers. This document describes how to configure and use the JBoss application server in Mac OS X Server, which lets you deploy J2EE applications easily and reliably. JBoss application server is a free moreover open-source product. While WebLogic application server is developed by Oracle. The newest version of the JBoss server supports Java EE 6 Web Profile. Whereas, the latest announcement of the WebLogic server only supports Java EE 5. Configure and administer a JBoss application server on Mac OS X Server. Mac OS X Server Command-Line Administration for Version 10.4 or Later Use commands and configuration files to perform server administration tasks in a UNIX command shell. Mac OS X Server Collaboration Services Administration for Version 10.4 or Later.

This document describes how to configure and use the JBoss application server in OS X Server, which lets you deploy J2EE applications easily and reliably.
This document is intended for system administrators, J2EE application assemblers, and developers. It assumes you have a solid background in system administration and J2EE technology. You must be familiar with OS X Server, especially how to use Terminal to issue shell commands. Knowledge of database engines, such as MySQL, is helpful but not required.

Announcement:April 08 2010: JBoss Web 3.0.0 Beta2 Released
Building on JBoss Web Beta1, this new release focuses on integration refactorings with JBoss AS, as well as trimming down the configuration profile used to focus on the standalone Servlet and JSP functionality. As a result, the download sizes and startup times are significantly reduced over Beta1, while allowing easily scaling up to JBoss AS when needed.
As with Beta1, this release is Servlet 3.0 and JSP 2.2 compliant.
